When Pam Bondi was nominated to be President Trump\u2019s Attorney General, her extensive record<\/a> as a corporate lobbyist<\/a>, combined with her apparent openness to obliging Trump\u2019s authoritarian desires<\/a>, raised flashing red flags about the DOJ. <\/p>\n

Over the last 100 days, many of the actions taken by Bondi and the DOJ officials under her charge have unfortunately shown that those fears were well-founded.<\/p>\n

Here are 10:<\/p>\n

  1. OPENED <\/strong>the door to bribery by freezing enforcement<\/a> under the 1977 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act that bars bribes by U.S. businesses to win overseas deals.<\/li>\n
  2. CANCELED FBI effort to combat foreign influence in U.S. politics by disbanding<\/a> FBI\u2019s Foreign Influence Task Force and paring back enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.<\/li>\n
  3. REVOKED free speech protections for journalists, allowing authorities to compel reporters<\/a> to expose confidential sources.<\/li>\n
  4. DROPPED lawsuit to enforce voting rights<\/a> and protect equal access to the ballot.<\/li>\n
  5. ENDED bribery and corruption case<\/a> against New York Mayor for political reasons<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  6. DEMANDED the names of thousands of FBI agents<\/a> who investigated the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.<\/li>\n
  7. INSERTED highly partisan political appointees into decision-making about sensitive matters<\/a> including ethics recusals, bar referrals, employee discipline, and releasing information sought by Congress and inspectors general.<\/li>\n
  8. DROPPED a discrimination case<\/a> against Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  9. DISBANDED its consumer protection unit<\/a> and moved to halt or dismiss dozens of enforcement investigations and cases<\/a> against corporations<\/a> including:\n

    1. Eight corporations facing DOJ Civil Rights Division cases and investigations<\/li>\n
    2. Seven corporations facing DOJ Environment and Natural Resources Division cases and investigations<\/li>\n
    3. Twenty corporations facing DOJ and Securities Exchange Commission cases and investigations into possible Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
