Today\u2019s vote follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/07\/03\/trump-presidency-news-big-bill\/#link-4LKIEKD47RFO5ADQCUTT3EFNBI\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">historic<\/a> speech from Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries warning of the bill\u2019s devastating consequences for millions of Americans. <\/p>\n<p>The passage of this bill comes after months of \u201cconcerns\u201d from congressional Republicans and explicit acknowledgment of the fact that this bill would gut healthcare and raise costs for their own constituents, with <strong>a decisive number of House Republicans previously <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/accountable.us\/congressional-republicans-who-vowed-to-not-cut-medicaid-cuts-voted-to-cut-medicaid-and-could-benefit-from-tax-scam\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">vowing<\/a> to never vote to cut Medicaid. <\/p>\n<p>As it turns out, those congressional Republicans lied to us.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Today\u2019s party-line vote by House Republicans to rip healthcare away and raise grocery costs for tens of millions of Americans is as devastating as it is enraging. For months, a decisive number of House Republicans voiced their concerns, acknowledging that this bill would make people poorer and sicker, only to vote in favor of this bill.
