The House had previously planned to vote on the rule around noon. <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116409146419851362\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The White House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/x.com\/JakeSherman\/status\/2044409945286709359\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">intelligence agencies<\/a> have been exerting maximum pressure to get Congress to pass a \u201cclean\u201d renewal of FISA without any privacy reforms. However, both <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/meredithllee\/status\/2044410387223785980\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Republicans<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/chc.house.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/chc-capac-and-cpc-chairs-lead-53-members-congress-urging-leadership\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Democrats<\/a> keep raising concerns about moving forward without enacting privacy protections. Demand Progress is part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/demandprogress.org\/civil-society-leaders-applaud-capac-chc-cpc-chairs-for-supporting-fisa-privacy-reforms\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">bipartisan coalition<\/a> urging Congress to close loopholes in the law that allow the government to bypass the courts to surveil Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a statement from <strong>Demand Progress Senior Policy Advisor Hajar Hammado<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time, fearmongering was not enough to overcome a bipartisan movement fighting for the privacy rights of all Americans. We rarely ever see the full force of the White House and the intelligence agencies fail to browbeat Congress into giving them what they want. That this happened today is a testament to the tireless work of our movement, which has been successfully bringing Republicans, Democrats and independents together for a common cause.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this fight is nowhere near over.
