The Lawyers\u2019 Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which filed an amicus brief in <em>Trump v Barbara<\/em>, welcomed the ruling and issued the following: <\/p>\n<p><strong>Dariely Rodriguez, chief counsel at the Lawyers\u2019 Committee for Civil Rights Under Law<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s ruling solidifies what we have known to be true for over a hundred years and what our Constitution and federal laws have supported: that anyone born on American soil, regardless of the legal status of their parents, is born an American citizen. We have endured an incredible test of our collective will as a nation and have prevailed. We are glad ideological gamesmanship failed, and the right result was reached here.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Sedwick, counsel at the Lawyers\u2019 Committee for Civil Rights Under Law<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are satisfied with today\u2019s result, however, we know it should have never been a question from the start. This part of our democracy\u2019s foundation remains intact. The domicile status of one\u2019s parents has never been a part of the calculus to determine who is born an American citizen. We hope this ends the attack on the citizenship of our American-born brothers and sisters who are born to immigrant parents.
